Masters of Hope
I was the first to reach the fort,
Took down the flag
which was a shirt,
And waiving my success
I blew a kiss.
But not to flirt.
The fight is over
Everyone.
Tomorrow we’ll play again.
Yeah, those nights were filled with glory and dreams, when I was ten. Pretending was so easy
in a foxhole with no fear.
But now that foxholes filling up with hate There’s no room to hide in here
I realize how
Something inside now dies a little more. And though we keep trying
our senses won’t lie like before
I’m not surprised how we find we can’t hide how hard it is to cope
But somehow, we’ll still find a way we’re the masters of hope.
We’re the Masters of Hope
The battles that we waged we fought believing
What we had staged
Shot but unafraid
I counted ten
till I was saved
That summer dawn
When I was young
and every soldier had his gun
Those memories I now guard
of feeling safe in my back yard
I guess we’ll have to lie some more
I know it’s hard to bare
We’ll still go on believing when hopes no longer there I realize how something inside now
dies a little more
and though we keep trying
Our senses won’t lie like before
and I’m not surprised how we have come to find how hard it is to cope
But somehow, we’ll still find a way
we’re the Masters of Hope
