JAN 7 2024— a day that like any other

Jan 6 is now emblematic at least in part of the fraying of our interactions with each other. Strangers and our friends, and even our families have suffered the fallout from that day, whether we know it or not or accepted it or not. But that day isn’t any more special than Jan 7 or 8th and so on. Because the fabric of our tolerance for each other is tearing a bit, daily. The synthesis of our opinions is an assumed free will. I feel that we have confused ourselves a bit. And the result can lead to the kind of violence seen occurring regularly. They have now become a regular part of our lives. Mass shootings are commonplace. In fact, it would seem the concept of killing overall, isn’t any big deal. There is a connection that is loose or perhaps just rusted away. Either way it’s broken and the results are unlike anything I imagined or could have hypothesized. It is a combination of so many buzzing social factors. It’s a daily inhabitant of our lives that lives with us and feeds us. I have never been as aware or worried about the consequences of our treatment of each other every day. There is a plethora of reasons and influences but they to me are also excuses to accept bad behavior, disengagement, and intolerance. So Maybe…, It’s time to check our HEARTS AT THE DOOR. I wrote this song Hearts At the Door in response to my own frustration.
