PART 2. ALL ANIMALS ARE WELCOME

AMELIA Dreams on…..

Amelia dreamed of Dr. Dentist

The sign said All Animals Are Welcome

The waiting room was filled with animals of all types: Birds, Turtles, Elephants and more. Nurse Liz asked Amelia if she wanted to come in and look around

“Amelia, you can go in and look around if you like.” the nurse said. She pointed to all the windows Amelia could look into to see exciting things.

This one has a ladder said Amelia pointing to the first room.

“Go ahead, climb up, and take a peek.”

Amelia climbed up the ladder to see Dr. Dentist counting the teeth of a baby Camel.

Assistant Kathy, using a long hose washes the camels mouth.

Dr. Dentist says, “Rinse and Spit, please.” And the camel does.

There was lots of sand in there.” says Kathy.

Amelia walks down a hallway and now sees a series of steps ahead and a big window at the top.

As she gets to the top of the stairs she peers into the oval window and she sees…

A Mommy and Baby Whale having their teeth cleaned by Dr. Dentist and Nurse Kathy. Both are now wearing scuba outfits. Kathy holds a big light to help them see.

Amelia walked on and saw in the next room a Turtle in a dental chair. “But, where was the Turtle?” thought Amelia. “All I see is a shell. “she wondered out loud.

Dr. Dentist and Assistant Kathy looked to find him with a flashlight.

Dr. Dentist smiled and said,

“It’s alright little fella, whenever you’re ready you can come out.”

The Turtles’ Dad looked on and said. “I don’t think he is coming out any time soon.”

As Amelia peered into the window of the next room, she saw two birds on a perch. Dr. Dentist now was swinging around himself. He said, “Little Parrot, you have a cavity.”

Little Parrot looked at him and answered, “You have a cavity.”

Mommy Parrot said, “Don’t talk back.”

Amelia dreamed on…

(This image would be 3 pages with a very long mirror)

Dr. Dentist says     ( from 3 pages away)

“You look pretty good from here.”

As the proud Alligators parents look on fondly.

Amelia goes to the next room and sees Dr. Dentist showing a mother Hippo how he will move Junior’s front teeth together. Mom has already had this done.

In the next room Dr. Dentist gets a lift up by Mama Elephant so he can clean her teeth. Assistant Kathy gets a little playtime with Baby Elephant.

“Now, hold on there little fella.” said Kathy in a bumpy voice.

Amelia went back to check on that Turtle. But he had not come out yet. Even Dr. Dentist began to look at his watch.

Amelia strolled by the last room. A young Giraffe was having something taken out of his mouth by  Dr. Dentist. Nurse Kathy holding on to his stretchy, shirt and both were very high up on a very long ladder.

“That looks scary.” Said a little fella, holding Amelia’s hand and pointing up.

“Aren’t you supposed to be in that shell? “Amelia said to the little Turtle.

“Yeah, But I’m afraid.” Answered the little Turtle.

Amelia listened. And the two talked about how silly it was to be afraid.

Amelia said, “I will go with you and keep you company.”

When the little Turtle heard that he began to laugh and dance.

Amelia and the Turtle danced until Amelia’s dream slowly faded away and she could feel herself wakening.

Amelia Woke up.

       It was morning.

          Amelia Brushed her teeth.

A little later that day at the dentist office,

Amelia’s Mom asked, “Are you nervous?”

Amelia was anxious but…

That was just to see Dr. Dentist. “C’mon!” Amelia cried out loud, as she pulled Mom inside.

“Ok, slow it down Amelia.” said Mom.

                             THE END

(We see Amelia in a waiting room filled with people. Each has some characteristic of the animals we saw earlier. There is a young man with a backpack that resembles a turtle shell. A man with an umbrella with a handle that looks like a Parrot. A woman wears a coat that makes it look like Hippos front teeth. A man holds a guitar that makes him look like an Alligator… etc.…)

Since the portion of the tale that includes Dr. Dentist are in Amelia’s dream, one might be able to say anything goes. So, if a Parrot doesn’t actually have teeth, and Amelia repeats what she may have heard once;.. You have a cavity…..,   well then maybe it passes muster, even if Parrots don’t have teeth. Alternatively, some ideas may be left out or exchanged.

I removed a series of pictures with regards to house visits. I think that Dr. Dentist has other stories to be a part of and other scenarios to tickle the imagination. He could exist or he could be in our dreams.

If it’s in a kid’s dreams it can get pretty silly. Anyhow, thank you for looking.

Incidentally,
I thought it would be cute to have the Back-Cover page with a turtle out of his shell sipping a drink from a straw at the beach as if he never was in the shell to begin with. And leave it at that.
(just a thought)
