This story is about Amelia who dreams of her first visit to the dentist. She has a big imagination that probably exceeds her age.

Growing up, I loved a good Golden Book.

One of my favorite children’s books as a youngster was Sam and the Firefly.  

That might tell you a little about me.

The drawings are done by me in order to show the Illustrator my understanding and intentions. I believe there is some good imagery for a kid here.

 A Dr. Dentist Series

One evening, while Amelia brushed her teeth,

Mom Leaned into the bathroom and said,

“Remember to brush well.”

“WHY? “Amelia asked holding up a foamy toothbrush.

“Because we are going to the dentist tomorrow and You want them sparkling.” Said Mom.

“Yeah,

But I don’t have to go to the dentist.”

Said Amelia,

as she was carried off to bed.

“Everyone goes to the dentist.” Said Mom.

“Even animals?” Amelia exclaimed.

Mom thought about it and answered,

“Yes, all animals. Just like you.”

 Tickling Amelia with a Snake hand,

“Ssssssss, now go to sssssleep.” Mom urged.

How about a Hippopotamus?

Amelia asked.

“Yes, even a Rhinoceros too! “

Mom giggled back.

“What About a Big Elephant?” said Amelia,  

            stretching her arms out wide.

“ Yes, and Elephants.” Mom laughed back.

 “How about a Monkey? Amelia, now jumping out of the sheets.

“Ok, Monkey, Now, calm down. Don’t let your imagination run away …

Before mom could finish her sentence, Amelia said

Mom left the room and Amelia sat up in bed, and looking over at her pet Turtle,

she whispered, “I’m not scared. Are You?”

The Turtle didn’t answer.

As Amelia settled into bed, she suddenly called out to a light in the other room.

“How about Turtles?”

“Turtles too…. Go to sleep Amelia.” Mom cried out from her bedroom. Amelia did eventually fall asleep just a little later that night.

And she began to dream.
